What budgets spend
The advertised rate is the most a view pays. On 640 clipping campaigns with over $100 spent and over 10,000 tracked views, budgets spent a median $1.07 per 1,000 tracked views against a $1.30 median advertised rate, 91% of the rate. Spent is not paid out: clipping platforms report spend as views are credited, and payout comes later.
What cuts pay
- Minimum views. A clip under the minimum is paid nothing. 48 of 534 live CPM campaigns set one, a median 2,000 views a clip.
- A cap per clip. Past it, more views add nothing. 510 of 534 live CPM campaigns set one, at a median $200.
- The platform's fee. Content Rewards takes 10% of CPM pay and Clipster 5%. Clipstake takes none.
- Approval and budget. A rejected clip is paid nothing, and pay stops once the campaign's budget is used.
Views decide the pay, and the footage decides the views. The Alpha Score weighs the rate against all of these for every live campaign.
