# Use ClippingAlpha in Cursor, VS Code, Gemini CLI and other MCP apps

Add https://clippingalpha.com/mcp as a remote HTTP server named clippingalpha in Cursor, VS Code, Gemini CLI or any MCP app to get 19 ClippingAlpha tools over 878 live paid campaigns at 23:10 UTC on 30 Oct 2026, with an OAuth sign-in only for saving, alerts and cutting clips. Checked 23:10 UTC

As of 23:10 UTC on 30 Oct 2026. Page: https://clippingalpha.com/learn/clippingalpha-mcp-setup

- **Tools**: 19
- **Open tools**: 12
- **Live campaigns**: 878

## Five steps, any app

1. Copy the server URL, https://clippingalpha.com/mcp.
2. Add it to your app as a remote HTTP server named clippingalpha, with the config for your app below.
3. Reload the app and check that it lists the ClippingAlpha tools, such as top\_alpha\_now and get\_brief.
4. Ask a first question, such as what to clip today on TikTok. The campaign tools answer with no account.
5. Sign in when a tool asks, in the browser window your app opens, to save campaigns, set alerts and [cut clips](https://clippingalpha.com/learn/cut-clips-with-ai).

## Your app's config

Each config below follows its app's own docs, read on 30 Oct 2026. The name clippingalpha is yours to change, the URL is not.

### Cursor

~/.cursor/mcp.json, or .cursor/mcp.json in a project

```
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "clippingalpha": {
      "url": "https://clippingalpha.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

Cursor runs the OAuth sign-in in your browser the first time a tool needs your account. [Cursor MCP docs](https://cursor.com/docs/context/mcp)

### VS Code

Command Palette, MCP: Add Server, then HTTP

```
{
  "servers": {
    "clippingalpha": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://clippingalpha.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

A browser window opens for the OAuth sign-in on the first connection. [VS Code MCP configuration](https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/agents/reference/mcp-configuration)

### Gemini CLI

One command, or httpUrl in settings.json

```
gemini mcp add --transport http clippingalpha https://clippingalpha.com/mcp
```

Run /mcp auth clippingalpha in Gemini CLI. It opens the sign-in in a browser on this machine. [Gemini CLI MCP servers](https://geminicli.com/docs/tools/mcp-server)

### Claude Code

One command in your terminal

```
claude mcp add --transport http clippingalpha https://clippingalpha.com/mcp
```

Run /mcp in Claude Code and follow the browser sign-in. [Claude Code MCP docs](https://code.claude.com/docs/en/mcp)

### Codex CLI

~/.codex/config.toml

```
[mcp_servers.clippingalpha]
url = "https://clippingalpha.com/mcp"
```

Run codex mcp login clippingalpha to sign in. [Codex MCP docs](https://learn.chatgpt.com/docs/extend/mcp?surface=cli)

### Windsurf

mcp\_config.json, from Cascade's MCP settings

```
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "clippingalpha": {
      "serverUrl": "https://clippingalpha.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

Cascade supports OAuth for Streamable HTTP servers and asks you to sign in. [Windsurf Cascade MCP docs](https://docs.devin.ai/windsurf/plugins/cascade/mcp)

### Zed

Settings, AI, MCP Servers, Add Remote Server

```
"context_servers": {
  "clippingalpha": {
    "url": "https://clippingalpha.com/mcp"
  }
}
```

Zed asks you to sign in with the standard MCP OAuth flow. [Zed MCP docs](https://zed.dev/docs/ai/mcp)

### Cline

cline\_mcp\_settings.json, or Remote Servers in Cline

```
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "clippingalpha": {
      "type": "streamableHttp",
      "url": "https://clippingalpha.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

The campaign tools need no sign-in. Leave type as streamableHttp, or Cline falls back to the older SSE transport. [Cline remote MCP servers](https://docs.cline.bot/mcp/connecting-to-a-remote-server)

In Cursor and VS Code the install keys on the [Clip with AI](https://clippingalpha.com/clip-with-ai) page fill this in for you. Gemini CLI's docs note that Google moved free tier and Google One users to Antigravity CLI on 18 June 2026. In Gemini CLI itself the key in settings.json is httpUrl, since url there means the older SSE transport.

## ChatGPT and Claude

The two chat apps connect through their own settings rather than a file, and both show the campaign cards and clip player inside the chat. [How to find clipping campaigns with ChatGPT](https://clippingalpha.com/learn/chatgpt-clipping-gigs) and [how to find clipping campaigns with Claude](https://clippingalpha.com/learn/claude-clipping-gigs) walk through each.

## Without 18+ campaigns

https://clippingalpha.com/mcp/general serves the same 19 tools with the 18+ campaigns left out, the ones in regulated categories such as gambling, prediction markets and crypto trading. Use it in place of the main URL in any config above.

## Older apps

An app that only starts local servers can still reach ours through the mcp-remote bridge, which runs with npx and needs Node.js.

```
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "clippingalpha": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["mcp-remote", "https://clippingalpha.com/mcp"]
    }
  }
}
```

## First things to ask

```
What should I clip today on TikTok?
```

```
What does lovable/clipping want, and where do I get the footage?
```

```
Plan 3 clips with cut times, hooks and captions.
```

```
Cut clips 1 to 3 and give me the download links.
```

## Common questions

### What is the ClippingAlpha MCP server URL?

https://clippingalpha.com/mcp, a remote Streamable HTTP server. https://clippingalpha.com/mcp/general serves the same 19 tools without the 18+ campaigns.

### Do I need an account to use it?

No, 12 of its 19 tools work signed out. The 7 account tools, and cutting clips, need a sign-in through OAuth from your MCP app.

### What can I ask once it is connected?

Anything about the 878 live paid campaigns it reads at 23:10 UTC on 30 Oct 2026: what to clip today on TikTok, what a brief wants, which moments to cut, or to cut clips 1 to 3.

### Can it post or submit clips for me?

No. It finds, plans and cuts. You post each clip from your own account and submit its link on the clipping platform, 1 post at a time.
